Schwarz are a winery who often try to show a different side of the Barossa Valley. Here, they’ve opted to make a more perfumed, lighter style GSM than many of the teeth-stainers out there. There’s still abundant juicy red fruits, spices and a streak of red liquorice to make you feel at home. But the lifted nose speaks of oregano and thyme, other dried herbs and tangy orange peel. It’s young, fresh and vibrant and provides very welcome relief just when you think you’ve got the Barossa’s number. Lovely stuff to drink year round, too!

“It is splendidly perfumed on the nose showing mixed berry compote, dark plum, violet, thyme and toasted almond characters with a touch of gamey complexity. The palate is succulent and plump, displaying excellent weight and intensity, wonderfully complemented by silky texture and supple tannins, leading to a lingering delectable finish”.
